JOB DUTIES:
CHILD PROTECTIVE SERVICE SPECIALIST I - $33,312
Under direct supervision, performs a variety of tasks at the professional entry level in child protective case management; provides direct or indirect assistance to children and the families; and performs related work as required.
CHILD PROTECTIVE SERVICE SPECIALIST II - $35,730
Under general supervision, performs a variety of tasks in child protective case management; provides direct or indirect assistance to children and the families. This class is distinguished from the Child Protective Service Specialist I by greater emphasis on case management/case complexity and a higher level of authority assigned. This class may assume investigative responsibilities.
CHILD PROTECTIVE SERVICE SPECIALIST III - $38,855
Under general supervision, performs a wide variety of tasks in child protective case management; provides direct or indirect assistance to children and the families. May supervise subordinate staff in the absence of the Child Protective Service (CPS) Unit Supervisor. This class is distinguished from the Child Protective Service Specialist II by greater emphasis on investigative and supervisory responsibilities.
EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION:
CHILD PROTECTIVE SERVICE SPECIALIST I : Master's or Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university; ORFive (5) years as a CPS Case Aide II in Arizona state service and Completion of the ASU Undergraduate Child Welfare CORE
This is an underfill classification. All positions are classified at the Child Protective Service Specialist (CPS) III level. When an employee meets the work standards and KSAs of the CPS Specialist II level, management has the discretion of promoting the employee to a CPS Specialist II with a starting salary of $35,730
CHILD PROTECTIVE SERVICE SPECIALIST II : One (1) year as a CPSS I in Arizona state service; ORMaster's or Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university and one (1) years of Child Protective Services experience; ORMaster's degree in Social Work (MSW)/Bachelor's degree in Social Work (BSW) acquired through the DCS-ASU/NAU Title IV-E program
This is an underfill classification. All positions are classified at the Child Protective Service Specialist (CPS) III level. When an employee meets the work standards and KSAs of the CPS Specialist III level, management has the discretion of promoting the employee to a CPS Specialist III with a starting salary of $38,855
CHILD PROTECTIVE SERVICE SPECIALIST III: One (1) year as a CPSS II in Arizona state service; OR Master's or Bachelor's Degree and two (2) years of Child Protective Services experience
Social Services is defined as organized efforts to advance human welfare, such as welfare services provided by a government or private agency for its needy, disadvantaged or disabled citizens. Experience must include theutilization of case management methodologies
SPECIAL SELECTION FACTOR(S):
In-state travel is required. Requires possession of and ability to retain a current, valid state-issued driver's license appropriate to the assignment. Employees who drive on state business are subject to driver's license record checks, must maintain acceptable driving records and must complete any required driver training (see Arizona Administrative Code R2-10-207.12.)
Employees may be required to use their own transportation as well as maintaining valid motor vehicle insurance and current Arizona vehicle registration; however, mileage will be reimbursed
For valid Arizona Driver's License holder; a copy of your three (3) year Motor Vehicle Report will be required
SELECTIVE PREFERENCE(S):
Will possess one year of computer experience, which includes Windows applications
PRE-EMPLOYMENT REQUIREMENTS:
Applicants for this position shall be subject to a search of the Child Protective Services Central Registry
Applicants for this position will be required to apply for and show proof of receipt of a valid Arizona Fingerprint Clearance Card that meets DES requirements for a Level One card
